A beautiful wedding!

Posted on May 4, 2011

I recently had a wonderful opportunity to work as a third shooter with Milla Chappel from Milla C. Photography.  Milla and her husband Brad were so kind to allow me to  come along and help with Maggie and Patrick’s wedding.  I had chatted with Milla a few times over the last year.  She is such a kind and easy going person.  I really love her work and her style.  And I thought it would be such a great experience to work closely with her during one of her weddings.  And I was right!

This wedding was just a gorgeous affair on an absolutely gorgeous day!!!   I really enjoyed being a third shooter.  I wanted to do it for the invaluable experience and to have a chance to work closely with a photographer that I really admire.  However, I also really loved the fact that, as a third shooter, I had lots of  flexibility and little pressure.  It was such a great opportunity to be able to hang back a bit, watch and shoot when I saw a beautiful moment.  I wasn’t responsible for many specific shots so I spent a lot of time watching Milla and Brad and making sure I was shooting from a different angle, or just catching some moments that were happening off to the side.   It was really fun and I hope to do it again soon!!!!

I would like to share some of the images I captured that day.  All images were shot for Milla C. Photography.

This past October, I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Bethany and Jeffrey.   Bethany and Jeffrey are a fun and sweet couple.  And, as expected, their family and friends were just as fun and sweet (and goofy) as they!  There was a lot of laughing, a lot of tears and a lot of love that day.  I truly enjoyed being a part of it and having the opportunity to capture all those fun, sweet and emotional moments!

Bethany loves fall and chose early October as their wedding day so she could capture some beautiful fall colors.   She was married in Grove City, PA and had her reception at the beautiful Atrium in Butler, PA.   She also really wanted to stop by Moraine State Park for fall photos.   It was a bit iffy there for a while as the weather didn’t look like it would cooperate, but the rain held off and we were able to get some beautiful photos by the lake.

Bethany was a beautiful bride and they did such a wonderful job in creating an absolutely beautiful and oh-so-fun wedding.   I love weddings filled with genuine love and friendship, and this one was filled with both.

Onto to the photos!!!!

I was so honored to be a part of Brittney and Graham’s September wedding. It was a cooler day, a bit overcast, and just perfect for a wedding!!  I did an engagement session for Brittney and Graham in August (sadly, not blogged!).  You can see the photos on my Facebook Business Page!

I was so excited to spend part of their wedding day with them. They hired me for a half of a day coverage starting before the ceremony and continuing on until the start of the reception.  The day was perfect, the family was wonderful and the wedding was just beautiful!!!

I started the day with some pre-wedding candids and portraits.  I just love how the guys are “hanging out” waiting for the start, while the girls are still taking care of last minute details!

We did the family and bridal party portraits before the wedding, but Brittney and Graham did not want see each other until the start of the wedding.

I just love both Brittney and Graham’s expressions as they see each for the first time that day – so sweet!!

I wasn’t photographing the reception, but I did stop by and get some photos of the details.  The light and the colors were just beautiful that day!

I recently had the honor of photographing the wedding of Renee and Jameson.  You may remember this couple as I took engagement photos for them last fall.

Renee and Jameson’s wedding was, honestly, such a pleasure to photograph.  They are an extremely sweet couple who are honestly in love.  There wasn’t any over-the-top pomp and circumstance, just honest to goodness love.  There were tears at the rehearsal and lots of tears at the wedding.  Everyone was happy and real and just plain fun to be around.

And I, personally, think that is just the way it should be.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, my absolute favorite types of photos are ones that capture moments.  And Renee and Jameson’s wedding was full of beautiful moments!!!

I met Renee and Jameson a couple hours before their wedding. They wanted to do a “first look” and they wanted to get as many wedding party and family photos done before the wedding as possible.

There were a lot of tears at this wedding, starting at the rehearsal when Renee had trouble even practicing her vows without crying. The tears continued to the wedding day when, as we were getting ready for the “first look”, Renee came into the church and saw her parents and the tears flowed again.

I commented to Renee’s mom that I absolutely love the tears. I feel that they show that this day is important and moving and filled with love. Just as a wedding is supposed to be!

We then went on for a first look.

There was a lot of nervousness and anticipation prior to this moment, but once Renee and Jameson has few moments to themselves, they felt calmer and more ready for the rest of the day. We then made our way to a local park for some bride and groom portraits. It was such a pretty day and we were able to get some beautiful portraits that were unrushed and relaxed and beautiful.

And a couple of my absolute favs of the day -

The ceremony was just sweet and simple and filled with love and emotion.  As Renee and her father walked down the aisle, Renee is trying to hold back the tears.  And her husband-to-be is just beaming!  Love it!!

And these, again, are a series of my absolute favs. What a great family.
