Baby it’s cold outside!
Posted on January 30, 2010
It may have been 3 degrees yesterday morning, but it was also oh-so-pretty!
I wish frostbite didn’t start setting in about 1.2 minutes after I left the house, I would have loved to take photos of the frosty and sunny scene all morning!
Snow day #2
Posted on January 28, 2010
Today was going to be a great day. Today I was going to get a lot of stuff done. Today I was going to ship off the family to school, go for a run in the snow, do some work, answer emails, get caught up on laundry, spend a few minutes relaxing with a great book.
But today is not going as planned.
For some God unknown reason, the wise men of our local school districts decided 2 inches of snow (in NW Pennsylvania no less) warrants a “snow day”. For the record, it is the second completely unnecessary snow day of the year. So everyone, including my husband, is home.
ALL. DAY. LONG.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love the kids, I love the hubby, but everyone [me] is usually happier when everyone is busy with their regular scheduled day. And mom is definitely happier when she doesn’t have a day of housebound, stir crazy kids and one husband who likes to read and comment on whatever she may be doing, reading, saying etc etc etc.
Well, on the upside, maybe today, instead on working on my usual stuff, I can get outside and take some pictures and have some fun with my camera. It seems hard to find time to do that sometimes.
So maybe it will be a pretty good day afterall.
And because this is a photography blog, I better include a photo – my Day 27 of Project 365…
Meet Alyssa! Class of 2010
Posted on January 24, 2010
Well, if you can’t tell from the photos, this post is a bit overdue!
Alyssa is a great girl who wanted to get her photos done at a gorgeous local golf course. As with a few of my seniors, the weather looked quite iffy, but ended up being almost perfect! We had a few moments of sun peaking through, and lots of bright, beautiful fall foliage. The colors were breathtaking. Alyssa, her mom and I hopped in a couple golf carts and spent the morning exploring all the amazing backdrops throughout the course. We had a great time and got some beautiful photos!
Just check it out! It almost looks too good to be true!
Thank you all so much!! It was such a pleasure meeting you. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors!
Susan and Joe – The Wedding!!!
Posted on January 20, 2010
I am so excited to finally blog this wedding!
Susan asked me to photograph her wedding many months ago, when I was really just starting my photography business. I was really honored. I still am!! Photographing a wedding is a HUGE responsibility, and one I definitely did not take lightly. I spent a huge amount of time preparing and I learned a lot. And can not thank Susan and Joe enough.
Susan and Joe and I got together in September for their engagement shoot. Engagement shoots, while not only a great way to get some relaxed portraits of the newly engaged couple, are also a great way for the couple and the photographer to get to know each other better. It makes it so much easier for everyone when the wedding day finally arrives.
Susan and Joe are beautiful people, inside and out. And they had a beautiful wedding as well!
The wedding took place in December in Pittsburgh at the Twentieth Century Club. And all I can say is “Wow.” It is an absolutely gorgeous and classy facility. The entire ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing were held at the club. Since it was December, the club was decorated for Christmas. Perfect.
To be honest, Susan and Joe’s wedding was one of the nicest and classiest weddings I have ever attended. Susan and Joe are so obviously happy together. Susan has two children who love Joe as well. And, other than the fact it was very cold, windy and snowy (which caused us to scrap the outdoor portraits), it really couldn’t have been a more perfect day.
Onto the photos!!!!
First some beautiful details…
I was able to convince Susan and Joe to do a “first look”. We did all the portraits before the ceremony, so we could take our time with the photos and so Susan and Joe could just spend time with their guests after the ceremony (SO perfect, and highly recommended!).
I absolutely LOVE Joe’s face in this photo. I mean, is this love or what?
Susan’s children were an integral part of the ceremony – it was so sweet. She has some really great kids.
The introductions before dinner:
And this is probably my absolute favorite photo of the day. I think it really captures the entire mood of the evening.
The couple’s first dance – gorgeous scene, isn’t it??
Thank you Susan and Joe SO much! I am honored that you chose me as your wedding photographer. I wish you many many years of happiness!!!
A tiny miracle
Posted on January 14, 2010
I am so excited to introduce you to this little sweetie-pie. Meet Deacon!!!
Deacon is an absolute sweetie I am also happy to say is our newest nephew! He was born in late December and is actually quite a little miracle. His parents waited a long time for him to join their family, but I know he was definitely worth the wait!!!!!
[Most of us] found out my SIL was housing this miracle on, none other than, Mother’s day! I mean, how completely perfect is that??? And, after we all picked up our jaws off the floor, and teased my BIL a bit – sorry Bryan, we couldn’t help it!, we had a wonderful Mother’s day celebration. And soon after their announcement, I made my own announcement “I will be over when he is about a week for newborn photos!”.
I love newborns. I love holding them, I love smelling them, I love looking at them, and I really love photographing them. I could not wait to take Deacon’s photos.
Deacon has been such a quiet and calm baby so far. He was an absolute angel or my shoot. Most of the time he was fast asleep. I was able to move him in a variety of poses and hardly heard a peep out of him.
About halfway through the session, he woke. He was quiet and calm. I snapped a bunch of photos of him looking at me (what are you doing lady?), and then we were able to get photos of him looking at his mommy and daddy. Seriously, he could NOT have been more cooperative! Oh, and we literally had one small accident – which, if you know anything about newborns - is pretty incredible!
So enough chit chat – let’s get to the photos!!!!!

Aunt Irene, please just ONE more minute!!

Tickling Daddy’s beard

Oh Mommy I love you SOOOO much!!

The new happy family-

Thank you all so much!!!!!
If you or anyone you know is expecting a baby and may be interested in newborn photos, please contact me! Newborn photos should, ideally, be taken when your baby is 6 – 10 days old. Just let me know when you due date is and we can pencil in a tentative shoot date. Once baby is here, we can firm up the date and the details.
Remember, your baby is only this tiny for a [what seems like] a split second. Capture those moments before they are gone. I do all shoots on-location. I will come to your home, find a nice corner, and set up my little studio!
